Mayor Eric Adams comments on shooting on off-duty ICE agent
An unidentified off-duty U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer was shot in New York City on July 19.
The 42-year-old male was shot in the face and arm during an apparent robbery attempt in Fort Washington Park, Manhattan. He is reported to be in stable condition and expected to survive.
The shooter who entered the country illegally. At the time of the shooting, the illegal had an outstanding bench warrant and was wanted for robbery, felony assault, kidnapping, and weapons possession across multiple states.
Mayor Eric Adams posted on his X account, “Violence of this kind will NEVER be tolerated in New York City.”
“No one is allowed to come to our country, come to our city, and break our laws.”
“Those who are following the law and trying to be good members of our society have a place here.”
“Our local officers do not participate in civil immigration, but this individual is exactly who we are talking about when we say we need to work with our federal law enforcement partners to go after violent criminals.”
