President Joe Biden announced Sunday that he has pardoned his son Hunter Biden
The pardon comes a month before President Biden leaves office and transfers power to President-elect Donald J. Trump, who spent years attacking Hunter Biden over his legal issues.
President Biden issued a full and unconditional pardon of his son Hunter on Sunday night after repeatedly insisting he would not do so.
President Biden said in a statement “I said I would not interfere with the Justice Department’s decision-making, and I kept my word even as I have watched my son being selectively, and unfairly, prosecuted.”
Hunter Biden pleaded guilty in September to nine federal tax charges in Los Angeles after telling his legal team that he refused to subject his family to another round of anguish and humiliation after the gut-wrenching gun trial in Delaware earlier in the year.
Mr. Biden had been set to remain free on bond until his sentencing hearing, which was scheduled for mid-December.
