Police dog stayed by murdered cops side dies

Officer Brad Fox from the West Caln Township Police Department was murdered back in the fall of 2012, just a day before his 35th birthday. His K-9 partner “Nick” was also shot by the suspect in the same incident. Though suffering from a gunshot wound himself, the young Belgian Malinois never left Brad’s side.

Nick had many years ahead of him on the force, but it was felt that the dog’s new assignment should be to watch over Brad’s wife and children. Nick healed up and retired to live out the rest of his life in peace at home. Nick was diagnosed with Lymphoma a year and a half ago and underwent weekly chemotherapy treatments which lasted a total of 9 months. He remained strong through it all, but the pain and discomfort from cancer just became too much and it was starting to take a toll on him. Unfortunately, Nick had to be put down yesterday.

He was able to enjoy a juicy grilled steak as his last meal before being given an emotional hero’s send-off. The fearless dog was transported to the hospital in Brad’s memorial patrol car with a uniformed escort. Nick was surrounded by his family and was saluted by dozens of officers from the Plymouth Township Police Department as he made his final walk. After nearly a decade of being apart from one another, Nick and Brad are finally reunited in heaven.
