Repentance and how it works from the bible
Jesus commands us to repent for the kingdom of God is at hand in Matthew 4:17
What does it mean to repent, Philippians 4:8 tells us we need to have a whole new mindset from thinking as sinners to holy thinking.
Philippians 4:9 tells us to take everything we have learned through scriptures and put it all into practice, to put what we learned into action.
When we break the law and get caught, we will end up having justice for us. If someone decides to pay the penalty for our guilty conviction and the judge allows it we are set free as long as we go and break laws no more.
In the same way, we can have new life in Christ if we repent, to turn away from willful sin. Jesus died on the cross while the saints were once sinners (Romans 5:8) (notice it is past tense not present or future)
We Do not live under the law but under grace does not give us a license to sin (Romans 6:1-2), it simply means we are given new life under Christ to go and sin no more as he commands.
In the end, we are either living as a sinner (following the antichrist) or living as a saint (following Christ) but we cannot be both.
