State Police Arrest Multiple Students for Assault at McCullough Middle School
The Delaware State Police arrested two 13-year-old females and a 12-year-old male, all from Delaware, for assault-related offenses following an assault that occurred at Calvin R. McCullough Middle School in New Castle.
On February 28, 2025, at approximately 10:30 a.m., Delaware State Police Troop 2 Youth Aid Detectives were notified of an assault that occurred earlier that morning at Calvin R. McCullough Middle School, located at 20 Chase Avenue in New Castle.

The investigation revealed a 13-year-old student from New Castle, DE, and a 13-year-old student from Wilmington, DE, struck a 13-year-old student multiple times in the head with a metal Stanley cup. Also, during the assault, a 12-year-old student from New Castle, DE, struck the victim with his hands. The suspects were separated by school staff and turned over to their respective guardians while the investigation was conducted.
The victim was taken to an area hospital, where she was treated for serious injuries to her head.
Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for the two 13-year-old suspects. The teens turned themselves in at Troop 2, where they were each charged with multiple felony crimes. The 12-year-old suspect was charged with a misdemeanor offense.
