The Edina Police Department has arrested five teenage boys in connection to the assault at the YMCA in December.
- Edina Police Department was called to the YMCA around 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 20, 2024, on the report of a large fight on the basketball court. By the time officers arrived, the suspects had run away. A 16-year-old victim was injured in the fight and transported to a hospital. The teenager has since been released.
- Edina Police worked diligently to investigate this case and identify the suspects. On Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025, a 16-year-old boy was arrested in Edina in connection with the assault. He was brought to the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center and charged with Felony 3rd Degree Riot and Felony 3rd Degree Assault.
- On Thursday, Jan. 9, 2025, three more teenage boys were arrested in connection with the assault. They were arrested on the following charges and were brought to the Juvenile Detention Center, pending formal charges:
- 17-year-old boy arrested in Edina for Felony 3rd Degree Riot and Felony 3rd Degree Assault
- 16-year-old boy arrested in Bloomington for Felony 3rd Degree Riot and Felony 3rd Degree Assault
- 14-year-old boy arrested in Edina (Charges not available due to age)

- **2:30 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10 Update: On Friday, Jan. 10, another teenage boy was arrested in connection to the Dec. 20 YMCA assault. The 17-year-old was arrested in Edina for Felony 3rd Degree Riot and Felony 3rd Degree Assault and was brought to the Hennepin County Juvenile Detention Center.
