This 93 year old business is making a comeback
Allentown, PA – The brass rail is opening a new location inside the Allentown farmers market.
“Everybody here has been so wonderful and welcoming and we really appreciate that. We’re excited to be a part of the family. We want everyone to do well here so that’s what it’s all about,” Mark Sorrentino told WFMZ.
What started out as a hotdog and hamburger stand quickly grew to an indoor dining room and bar location on Hamilton St in 1933 which closed in June of 2022.
In 1937 the Brass Rail introduced its first cheesesteak sandwich which is still sold today.
Sorrentino says it took a minute to figure out where to go next after closing up the business’ former location on Lehigh Street, which also closed in June of 2022.
“When my wife and I would come here we would run into at least a half a dozen regular customers so when we thought it, it would be kind of a perfect fit for us. It’s an Allentown tradition,” Sorrentino said.
The new market will be open on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays starting today.
“It just warms my heart to see that to hear it, to hear the excitement of us reopening,” Sorrentino said.
