John MacArthur dies in hospital
John MacArthur was born in Los Angeles, California, on June 19, 1939 who was the son of Jack MacArthur, a Baptist pastor and radio preacher, and Irene Dockendorf.
At the age of 29 John MacArthur began his ministry at Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California, in February 1969, when he became the senior pastor.
During the Covid-19 california lockdowns he committed civil disobedience keeping services open for those who wanted to attend. MacArthur stated, “Christ, not Caesar, is Head of the Church,” emphasizing their commitment to biblical authority over government restrictions.

The church received an $800,000 settlement in 2021 after the U.S. Supreme Court ruled that some public health measures could not apply to houses of worship.
John MacArthur, the pastor of Grace Community Church in Los Angeles, died on Monday, July 14, 2025 battle with pneumonia he was 86 years old.
