a 27-year-old Bronx mother allegedly hung her 6-year-old daughter by her wrists and beat her to death in her ‘house of horrors.’

Lynija Eason, a 27-year-old resident from East 165th Street in Morrisania, is accused of abusing her child, Jelayah Eason Branch, for weeks starting March 1st. Police found Jelayah’s bruised and malnourished body in a filthy apartment on Sunday. The Bronx DA’s Office said she had marks on her wrists from being restrained and hung in a closet, where her mother allegedly beat her.

The city medical examiner’s office ruled Jelayah’s death a result of child abuse, positional asphyxia, blunt force injuries, and malnourishment, DA Darcel Clark said. “The little girl was allegedly hanged by her wrists and beaten by the defendant with a hard object,” he said in a news release. “For weeks before she succumbed, Jelayah knew only pain and hunger, allegedly committed by her own mother.” Clark adds that justice for Jelayah will be served, and services for her two siblings who survived the “house of horrors” are being offered.

Eason’s been slapped with charges for second-degree murder, first-degree manslaughter, second-degree manslaughter, and three counts of child endangerment, according to Clark. Bronx Supreme Court Justice Brenda Rivera isn’t letting her out anytime soon—she’s staying put at the Rose M. Singer Center. She’s back in court on June 26.
