LETTER TO THE EDITOR: The NRA Saved My Life

I’m tired of ignorant people who parrot the talking points of the anti-gun left, and that’s what’s happening in regards to the NRA. At 4’10”, 100lbs- legal gun ownership and proper training from NRA-certified instructors are the ONLY great equalizers between me and a male aggressor. Before I became a gun owner, I was beaten, drugged and raped- all by men twice my size. Since joining the NRA, I have learned that the Second Amendment protects my Constitutionally guaranteed right to protect myself. So, in essence- the NRA saved my life.

Anyone with half a brain knows that the NRA has always been under attack by those who hate guns and the Second Amendment. The attacks have gotten worse lately because the gun-hating attorney general in New York is trying to destroy the NRA because she knows if she succeeds, the Second Amendment is as good as gone.

In the last two months alone, the group passed constitutional carry in Utah and Montana, making permitless carry the law in 18 states, it sued Maryland for an egregious licensing law that makes handgun ownership extremely difficult, it sued Virginia for banning firearms in parks, and it is about to pass stand your ground laws in Arkansas. Last year, over 80 percent of NRA-endorsed candidates won their election and thanks to the NRA, three pro-2A justices were confirmed to the Supreme Court.

Anti-gunners are trying to cancel the NRA. The NRA is too important, we can’t let that happen. Please, be skeptical when you hear gun-hating politicians or dumb civilians say bad things — they have an ulterior motive. Don’t let the fake news brainwash you into thinking the way they want you to. And don’t let a freedom-hating attorney general in New York pollute your opinion about the nation’s oldest civil rights organization.
