On January 27, 2021 at 3:39am, Bethlehem Police Officers responded to Sneaker Villa, 1 West 4th Street (Northampton County) for report of a burglary alarm.

Upon arrival, responding officers noticed damage suggesting that a burglary may have occurred. The Bethlehem Service Center was able to examine video surveillance in the area at the time of the call and provided officers with a description of a suspect who was observed leaving the store shortly before police arrival.

A suspect matching the provided description was located several blocks from the scene. The suspect, identified as Luis Martinez-Matias 49yrs, was wearing over $600 in merchandise (still with price tags) that was for sale inside the store and was in possession of over $600 that had been taken from the register. In addition to the stolen currency and merchandise, Matias was also in possession of an amount of cocaine.

Matias was taken into custody and charged with Burglary (F1), Criminal Mischief (M3), and Possession of a Controlled Substance (M). Matias was arraigned before the on-duty Northampton County District Magistrate and committed to Northampton County Prison under $10,000 bail.
