GOA Promotes Dr. Val Finnell, National Director of State and Local Affairs

On January 8, 2023, Dr. Val Finnell was promoted to the new role of ‘National Director of State and Local Affairs’ at the national chapter of Gun Owners of America, headquartered in Springfield, Virginia.
Prior to serving in this role, Finnell had served as the Pennsylvania State Director of Gun Owners of America- Pennsylvania since April 2019 and has been an absolute firebrand throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania throughout his historic tenure. As a lifelong staunch defender of the Second Amendment, Val was elected the very first President of the infamous ‘Virginia Citizens Defense League’ in 1998 where he was instrumental in assuring that Virginia remained a “shall issue” state.
In 1994, Mr. Finnell graduated from Pennsylvania State University with a Doctor of Medicine Degree and later earned his Master’s Degree in Public Health from the Uniform Services University in 2008. Additionally, Dr. Finnell is a highly-decorated disabled veteran, where he proudly served his country in the United States Air Force under the roles of Chief of the Medical Staff and Deputy Commander. In 2016, this Second Amendment ‘heavy-lifter’ and veteran advocate retired from the United States Air Force, earning the rank of ‘Colonel.’ Currently, Dr. Finnell resides in York, Pennsylvania and enjoys spending his free time spoiling his beloved grandchildren.
