MSP Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section Makes Arrests Saturday in Two Homicides
The Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (MSP VFAS) this weekend assisted State Police Detective Units and local police in locating and arresting suspects in two recent homicides.
MSP VFAS Troopers, along with Worcester Police, arrested DARLENE CARRERAS, 37, of Marlborough, on a manslaughter warrant in connection with the Aug. 2, 2023, fatal stabbing of her boyfriend, Eric Murray, 45. The stabbing occurred during an altercation inside CARRERAS’s Saint Ives Way apartment in Marlborough. After stabbing Mr. Murray, the defendant allegedly applied pressure to the wound but did not call 911 and instead called a friend to come over for help.
Marlborough Police and the State Police Detective Unit for Middlesex County identified CARRERAS, who had fled the area, as the assailant. Troopers from MSP VFAS begin working to locate her, and developed information that CARRERAS might be at a Worcester address associated with a member of her family.
On Saturday, MSP VFAS Troopers and Worcester Police detectives went to that Blossom Street, Worcester apartment, where they located CARRERAS and placed her in custody without incident. She was transported to the Marlborough Police Department for booking and was ordered held without bail at her arraignment today in Marlborough District Court.
Also on Saturday, August 5, members of MSP VFAS, along with New Bedford Police and State Police homicide detectives, developed information that GEOVANNI PIRES MONTEIRO-MACEDO, 20, might be at a residence on Morgan Street in New Bedford. MONTEIRO-MACEDO was the subject of an arrest warrant for the July 12 shooting homicide of Robert Aponte-Flores, 25, at Myles Standish State Forest in Plymouth.
On Saturday, based on the information developed, MSP VFAS Troopers, homicide detectives, and New Bedford Officers went to the house at 78 Morgan St. and determined that MONTEIRO-MACEDO had been seen on the second-floor apartment. After hearing movement in the apartment, the arrest team repeatedly called for anyone in the apartment to come out. When no one complied, Troopers and Officers made entry with the consent of the property owner.
As Troopers and Officers searched the apartment, they saw a large pile of clothes on the floor of a bedroom closet. The pile of clothes seemed out of place. Investigators removed the clothing and saw, underneath it, a male lying face down with his hands under his stomach. The man refused orders to show his hands, so he was forcibly removed from the closet, placed into handcuffs, and positively identified as MONTEIRO-MACEDO.
